Ashi Waliany

Principal & Founder

Forever an enthusiast of bold design, Ashi’s chic, fashion-forward personal style influences her approach to interior design integrating classic designs from decades past with modern sensibilities.

Raised in an entrepreneurial family, Ashi spent 7 years owning and operating restaurants making her highly adept at problem solving and acutely focused on delivering top notch customer service.  “My background running my own company helps me run an efficient and successful design business - the foundation is the same.  The creative and collaborative parts of the process speak to my strength and passion.”

Ashi grew up watching her mother take design risks in their own family homes.  “I thought my mom was nuts when she painted one wall of our Living Room bright teal, but it was that ‘accent wall’ that wowed our guests the most. In my teenage years, she trusted me in assisting her with the design of our new house. She added a touch of animal print to almost every room, which was so wild to me at that time. I realize now how classic and chic that element was. My mom unknowingly taught me to push design right up to the edge – live on the cusp”.

After renovating her own family’s home and leaving the restaurant world in 2016, Ashi reignited her passion for design.  She began her training with SF based interior design firms while pursuing her certification in Interior Design and Interior Architecture at UC Berkeley.  Ashi went on to lead several residential interior design projects for notable Bay Area interior designers before she founded Cusp Interiors in 2020.

Ashi’s integrated approach to interior design and project management coupled with her dedication to collaboration and client needs, makes her a highly-skilled designer in the Bay Area. Ashi holds a BA in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin and MBA From Georgetown University.  She lives with her husband and two sons in San Francisco. “In my designs, I like to take you to where glamour and high-style are approachable and comfortable, where luxury and children can live under the same roof, and where modern spaces can successfully evoke a sense of the past. My approach to design originates from the wants and desires of my client – and incorporates a nudge towards bolder color, stronger texture, and wider smiles.”
